Kayts Drinking Water Project: Quenching Thirst, Restoring Hope
Water is life, and for many families in rural Sri Lanka, wells are their only source of clean drinking water. When one such well was damaged, the community faced daily hardship walking long distances, relying on unsafe sources, and struggling to meet basic needs.
In 2024, TamilAid stepped in to restore the damaged well, ensuring that families could once again access safe, reliable water close to home. The restoration involved cleaning, repairing structural damage, and reinforcing the well to guarantee long‑term sustainability.
This project was more than just a repair; it was the revival of a lifeline. By restoring the well, TamilAid helped reduce health risks, ease the burden on women and children, and bring dignity back to everyday life.
The initiative reflects TamilAid’s mission: turning compassion into action, and ensuring that communities in need are supported with practical, lasting solutions.
